Orlando tourist destinations start summer on a sour note

Multiple negative factors seem to be slamming tourism numbers to Walt Disney World, Florida this summer
The Orlando Sentinel and officials from Visit Florida appear to back up what we've previously said about depressed visitor numbers in Florida's tourism industry after numerous tragedies at home and turmoils overseas.

This particular case scenario is apparently not that much of a worry this summer
Both sources cite the Orlando Pulse nightclub mass shooting, the fatal alligator attack that killed 2-year-old Lane Graves, Brexit, the threat of Zika spreading in Florida, the falling number of Brazilian tourists coming to Florida, and ticket price hikes at Disney theme parks as reasons for the declining number of visitors this summer—pretty much mirroring the reasons we pointed out earlier in several of our articles for the apparent decline.

However, we don't think there is much repercussions to the tourism numbers from the alligator attack—apart from large civil legal ramifications—that have piled on to Disney World's woes for seeing less visitors this year.

The one thing the Orlando Sentinel failed to pick up on is the impact of the upcoming Rio Summer Olympics, which is only 35 days away.

In anticipation of this major international event, tourism numbers to all of Disney's theme parks are expected to be somewhat depressed as many visitors who plan on going to see the Olympics—especially from Latin American counties—will forgo any plans to for a destination vacation at a U.S. Disney theme park.

What we absolutely agree with the Orlando Sentinel is there are many factors here that appears to be piling on or compounding the decreasing tourism numbers to Florida this year.

As they say, when it rains, it pours.
