Disneyland Paint the Night parade, fireworks and special World of Color to end run on Sept. 5

Say goodbye to the Paint the Night electrical parade because it and all the other Diamond Anniversary
Celebration nighttime shows are ending on Sept. 5th
After originally reporting on the closing of Disneyland's 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration nighttime fireworks, Disneyland Foreverm, show back on June 17th, it's now confirmed that Disneyland is ending all its expensive nighttime shows all at once on Sept. 5th.

Also gone on Sept. 5th is the Disneyland Forever fireworks show
That's right. Paint the Night electrical parade, Disneyland Forever fireworks show, and the World of Color - Celebrate! shows that were especially shown for the Diamond Anniversary Celebration back in May of last year are all ending their runs on Sept. 5th.

In their place, the old fireworks show, Fantasy in the Sky, and the old World of Color fountain will return with no replacement for the nighttime electrical parade.

The reason Disneyland is ending the extravagant nighttime shows is because of a miscalculation they made in these nighttime shows' ability to draw in visitors during the day after half the rides in Disneyland went down for the new Star Wars Land construction project.

Those shuttered rides are not expected to reopen until at least the summer of 2017, so continuing to run these three expensive nighttime shows appears to have little, if any, impact on the decreased number of visitors who come to the park during the start of the day.

The most forgettable of the Diamond Celebration offerings, The World of Color
- Celebrate
fountain show will also end Sept. 5th
Thus, it's because Disneyland can't financially justify continuing very expensive nighttime show offerings that they are ending continuing to show them to park guests. Had any of these shows been designed during the day, that might have been a different story in justifying continuing their runs.

We've previously reported that attendance numbers at the Disneyland theme parks have actually been down much in line with decreased attendance numbers seen at Disney World Florida even in the last quarter, despite the fact that Disney reported attendance being up at Disneyland from the same time last year.

Last quarter from last year saw Disneyland in the midst of the Measles outbreak which scared many park visitors away, so it made the decreased attendance numbers from last quarter seem larger compared to the same period last year.

But in reality attendance numbers in all U.S. Disney theme parks are down due to the unexpected and steep admissions ticket price hikes from Disney's demand-pricing scheme during the peak season and added restrictions on annual pass holders.

Much of what we said will likely be confirmed when Disney reveals its numbers in the upcoming quarterly earning conference call on August 9th. So far, the numbers from all of Disney's theme parks and resorts don't look good.
